Frequently Asked Questions

Is the lap counter waterproof?

The SLC-100™ lap counter is constructed for being around water. While the SLC-100™ base unit should not be immersed, if it does go into the water, the microprocessor, battery housing and cable connections are watertight with a IP67 rating and if the housing lid is properly fastened will be unaffected for up to 30 minutes in the water.

I swim using flip turns. Can I use the lap counter?

The SCL-100™ uses a paddle to count laps. You press the paddle at the end of the completion of a lap to count a lap. The paddle extends out from the pool deck slightly over the water. You might need to modify your swim turn to press the counting paddle.

How do you prevent overcounting laps, hitting the paddle more than once?

Once the paddle is pressed to count a lap, the SLC-100™ unit waits five seconds before it will count another lap. This prevents accidentally counting a lap when hitting the paddle more than once.

How do you care for the counter?

The SLC-100™ should be rinsed with clean water after each use and the unit should be allowed to air dry. Batteries should be removed from the unit for long term storage.

How many laps will the lap counter count?

The SLC-100™ has a two-digit display and the display can show numbers from 0 to 99. If you swim more than 99 laps the unit will start back at 0. So, if you go past 99 laps, you can add 100 to any number to get actual count. By the way if you swim more than 99 laps, congratulations, you are an outstanding swimmer.

What type of warranty do you provide?

The SLC-100™ is warranted for one year from the date of purchase to be free of defects and will be repaired or replaced at company discretion. The cost of shipping is the responsibility of the purchaser of the SLC-100™.
